Interesting NPCs v3.20

Here’s the tenth update and with it a new torrent. At some point I might put it all into a single BSA but at the moment there’s still enough tinkering that necessitates the smaller updates. Had some report an issue with Children Fair, I think it’s a recent problem since I never used to flag things as interruptible, but this scene was, probably because of another report where the scene got stuck. Ah well, since the scene is stopped via a script, can’t see why there’s an interruptible flag, so I removed it.

All Fixes and Tweaks from v3.10:

  • Children Fair – Fixed potential issue where after picking up the crystal, scene where Marigoth puts you inside is interrupted, thus removed “interruptible” flag from scene
  • Added failsafe script that forcibly stops post-wedding ceremony sandbox scene in the event another mod runs it(from what I can tell the scene does not run on a vanilla game), which causes spouse and wedding guests to get temporarily stuck in the Temple of Mara
  • Added unique comb to Veralene’s inventory (mesh/texture 1ndajone5)
  • Added a little idle singing to Zora
  • Fixed some typos and duplicate lines for Lyrek and Veralene
  • Added Dibella amulet to Amalee‘s default outfit
  • Changed Berg‘s default outfit to Giant Clothes by testiger2
  • Fixed issue where Haakon and guards clash when player enters Bloodworks, script now checks to see if his cell door is locked
  • Raised level cap of Darkened Steel ghosts
  • Added light to campfire in Bards, Beasts, and Beauties
  • Bards in Bards, Beasts, and Beauties set to observe only during duel. Skjarn teleported to safety at end of quest.
  • Fixed issue where Alassea, Amalee, and Skjarn would run their innkeeper scene in all inns
  • Fixed some apostrophes that were the wrong font
  • Prompt-But-Bashful‘s inventory can now be accessed while in player home
  • Added Carmella to various beast factions
  • Removed some pops from Carmella’s tracks
  • Blacksmith sandbox packages added to Isobel if she’s in a Hearthfire home with a forge in the cellar (MTWTF 9-12pm)
  • Added missing drum file for Portraiture duet with Ygglief
  • Fixed unfilled property for PlayerREF in Pit Dogs (bug introduced in 3.11 or 3.12)
  • Added mod bards to the BardAudienceExcludedFaction
  • Forwarded some MHDT changes made by Dragonborn.esm
  • Carmella‘s skeletons are now protected
  • Carmella removed from necromancer faction and added to Riverwood faction to avoid battles at inn
  • Fixed a scene near the end of As You Like It that sent Daenlyn to the docks making him AWOL for the actual scene
  • Removed (Quest in Alpha) on dialogue to start Aldmeri Prisoner
  • Disabled trigger box in longhouse of Idle Dreams after initial use, as running into it a second time would make the initial scene repeat
  • Fixed Batheru‘s intro dialogue not to repeat when speaking to a Dunmer character
  • Made Blood of Kings possible to start before Pit Dogs. However, starting either quest must be done to completion before you can start the other.

Cassandra – FAR to STAR – A New, Custom-Voiced Skyrim Follower!

Hello, fellow Interesting NPC cast members/fans! My name is Cassandra Wladyslava.  You may recognize me as the voices of Lajjan, Dirassi, and a few other characters.   Well…gosh…I think clean over a year ago I was asked to provide the voice of a new follower for Skyrim based on the character “Cassandra Pentagast” from Dragon Age II and Dragon Age Inquisition.  I accepted and, after lots of time, hard work, and love, she was released yesterday!

Here’s a little blurb from the nexus page:

Cassandra went from fighting to close tears and restore balance to the land of Thedas to suddenly waking up in Skyrim. With no desire to return home, this custom voiced follower is now available to help the Dragonborn in their adventures, long as the Dragonborn is just, of course.

I’d love for everyone to check her out and give her a shot!

On to the questions:

In high school, I looked good with a cap. I wore a cap every day. Wore it to the side, wore it backwards, wore it straight. Now I’m an adult, and every time I put on a cap I look like some middle-aged doofus. I’m pretty much the same weight. What the hell happened to my skull to make it so cap-averse?

Caps look better on teenagers the same way a fedora looks better on Humphrey Bogart. Even if you look the same physically, now that you’re older your perception of how you should appear no longer jives with the statement your cap makes. And just to be clear, we’re talking about propeller hats, right?

Anyhow, I just went through the same thing watching the re-mastered version of The Wire. Ten years ago, I was in favor of Bunny Colvin’s Hamsterdam idea and thought McNulty’s serial killer play was somehow justifiable. Watching it now, both these ideas and their premises seem so batshit crazy to me I’m beginning to question whether The Wire passes the soap opera line of television realism. The show hasn’t changed, but I have. Like 90% of the population, I’ve gone from wide-eyed idealist to cynical miser. I’m pretty much a cliche.

Christian Flags asks:

When’s the next podcast?

Alice and I are recording on Monday. Unless the drunken messages I get from her are a lie.

Why aren’t there any good Dragon Age: Inquisition mods?

The game was done in the Frostbite Engine 3, and while that makes the graphics look pretty, the point of entry is much, much higher than it was with Origins (which had an official modding toolset). It’s my understanding that you need a doctorate in game design just to install the fucking thing. That being said, wizards are hard at work making modding tools that idiots like the rest of us can understand.

grand rapids dumpster rental asks:

You ever meet someone and they mention something you really like, and you don’t know whether to go fangirl on them or play it cool and nod your head?

I never play things cool. I don’t know the meaning of the word (I think it’s a synonym of refrigerate).

Lose weight Just by running asks:

Is Skyrim your favorite game?

This is one of those questions that’s hard to answer accurately because opinions are fickle things. For instance, if you asked me last year what game I was looking forward to most, it was the Witcher 3. Now, having spent the better part of that year playing DAI, Skyrim, and Dragon’s Dogma, I’m much more hyped about Xenoblade Chronicles X.  Show me a trailer of flying whales, magical forests, giant mechs and sandworms, and my pants are gonna be swollen. It’s only after I’ve had my fill of JRPG weirdness that I’ll be in the right mood to go on a Wild Hunt.

But all things being equal, I’d say Bethesda games will be my favorite more days than not for three reasons. They let you make your own character. They let you sit down and touch things. And they let you mod their games.

I’ll think I’ll go do the last thing some more.

Happy Birthday, Skyrim!

Helgen

Just imagine, on this day three years ago, we were all choosing whether to go with Ralof or Other Guy. One of these days I’m going to choose your door, Other Guy. I just have to get over the fact you tried to chop my head off for no good reason.

In other news:

  • Here is a story from Tasmin about Rumarin after learning his ward spell. I post a lot of fan art but I really need to add more word sketches too, as I’m sure there are just as many talented writers out there as there are artists.
  • I forgot to mention the last release also included nonoodles‘ optimization for Dro’bar’s shack. So the tour should be easier on your computer from now on.
  • Also happy unbirthday to almost everyone else. Unbirthdays can be more enjoyable than actual birthdays, depending on your age, desire for attention, and proximity to Wonderland.
